Since the establishment, HKSCIFund has accomplished the following milestones and achievement:

1. Hold multiple events to raise funds for spinal cord injury clinical trials and research. Major events are:

2. Support promising SCI therapies, researches and clinical trials around the world to test their safety and efficacies:

  • Clinical trial "A Randomized and Controlled Clinical Trial of Surgical Decompression/Untethering Combined with Weight Bearing Rehabilitation for Patients with Chronic Spinal Cord Injury" , Kunming Tongren Hospital, China (2015-2018)
  •  Treatment of lumbosacral spinal cord injury by using neurotization and transplantation of motoneurons derived from induced Neural Stem Cells (iNSC) and Muse cells, University of Hong Kong (2012)
  •  U2FP CNS Regeneration Project to develop an optimized combination therapy to promote axon regeneration with recovery of bladder function, Case Western Reserve University (2016)
  •  PTEN/SOCS3 genetic deletion in CNS for SCI regeneration, Harvard Medical School, University of California and the Hong Kong Univerisity of Science and Technology (2014)
  • Research to identify rehabilitation needs and rehabilitation programme for individuals with spinal cord injuries (SCI), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2015-2019)
  •  Ultrasound Evaluation of Spine Health, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2015-2019)
  • Developing neural repair strategies in lumbosacral injury models, Harvard Medical School and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2015)
  • Elimination and Overcoming CSPG Barriers to promote Functional Regeneration of Chronic SCI, Case Western Reserve University (2015)  


3. Organize international symposia, training program and workshops to promote the collaboration and knowledge sharing in SCI research.  Selected symposia organized by ChinaSCINet are highlighted:
