A fundraising Concert "A Night of Movie, Music & Melodies" was jointly hosted by the Hong Kong Spinal Cord Injury Fund (HKSCIFUND) and the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 25 November 2017. The HKCO and the HKSCIFUND cooperated to raise funds respectively for clinical trials for spinal cord injury and for the HKCO's 'Music for Love Scheme'. Ms Ella Lau, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, invited a dozen of celebrities who are amateur music enthusiasts to perform in the concert. Mr. Chew Hee Chiat, the Conductor, the orchestra members and the guest performers performed popular songs which were mateched with display of specially selected clips of movies providing enriching audio and visual entertainment making the night full of memories and melody.

A fundraising gala dinner was hosted by Hong Kong Spinal Cord Injury Fund at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on 11 September 2016 for recalling the public awareness on SCI. HKSAR Chief Executive Mr. C.Y. Leung, Prof. Leong Chi-yan (Chairman of Hospital Authority), Dr. the Hon. Ko Wing Man, BBS, JP, Prof. Paul Tam (Pro-Vice- Chancellor of HKU), Mrs. Suzanne Poon (Chairperson of HKSCIFund), Mrs. Nina Lam, Ms. Ella Lau, Mrs. Amy Tam, Father Deignan and Mr. Jacky Chau (Directors of HKSCIFund) gathered together to officiate at the ceremony.

A gala dinner and fundraising show was hosted by Hong Kong Spinal Cord Injury Fund at ATV on 28 June 2013 for recalling the public awareness on SCI. HKSAR Chief Executive Mr. C.Y. Leung, world-known famous actress Ms Carina Lau, Dr. the Hon. Ko Wing Man, BBS, JP, Prof. Paul Tam (Pro-Vice- Chancellor of HKU), Mr. James Shing (Asia Television Ltd.), Mr. Akihiro Nagahara (United Asia Finance Ltd), Ms. Molly Kung (Chinachem Group Ltd), Mrs. Suzanne Poon (Chairperson of HKSCIFund), Mrs. Nina Lam (Director of HKSCIFund), Prof. So Kwok Fai and Prof. Wise Young (Co-chairperson of ChinaSCINet), gathered together to officiate at the ceremony.  With the support of ATV, many famous artists and singers, including Ms. Teresa Carpio (杜麗莎女士) and Ms. Nishizaki Takako (西崎崇子女士), performed during the show.

The fundraising show was broadcast on 7 July 2013 at 8:30pm on ATV Home and ATV Asia. The funding raised will support the clinical trials to develop and test the promising therapies for spinal cord injury .

York Chow Yat-ngok, SBS, JP, Dr. the Hon. Leong Che-hung, GBS, JP, Prof. Paul Tam (Pro-Vice- Chancellor of HKU), Prof. Henry Wong (Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK), Mr. Wong Ching (Asia Television Ltd.), Mr. Akihiro Nagahara (United Asia Finance Ltd), Ms. Molly Kung (Chinachem Group Ltd), Mrs. Suzanne Poon (Chairperson of HKSCIFund), Mrs. Nina Lam (Director of HKSCIFund) and Prof. Wise Yong (Co-chairperson of ChinaSCINet), gathered together to officiate at the ceremony.  With the support of ATV, many famous artists and singers, including Ms. Chan Po Chu (陳寶珠女士) and Ms. Prudence Lau (劉美君女士), performed during the show.  Moreover, Mr. Stephen Chow (周星馳先生), Mr. Jackie Cheung (張學友先生), Mr. Andy Lau (劉德華先生) and many superstars also appealed for the HKSCIFund. In order to promote the awareness of spinal cord injury and to raise funds for the HKSCIFund, a Variety Show was held at TVB. The live show was broadcast at TVB Jade from 8:30pm to 10pm on 2nd February 2008. Phone-in donation is available during the Variety Show. With the support of TVB and Mr. Stephen Chow (周星馳先生), film stars of Mr. Chow's new film "Chang Jiang 7"(長江七號), many famous artists and singers performed during the show.  Moreover, superstar Mr. Jackie Chan (成龍先生) also appeal for the HKSCIFund. We are honored to have Dr. the Hon. York Chow Yat-ngok, SBS, JP (周一嶽局長), Dr. the Hon. Leong Che-hung, GBS, JP (梁智鴻醫生), Dr. Ko Wing-man, JP (高永文醫生) and Ms. Shelly Lee Lai-kuen (李麗娟女士), Mr. Stephen Chow and Mrs. Suzanne Poon to officiate at the ceremony.

2007_Mission_Hills_Cup.JPGMission Hills Cup Charity Gala

To raise fund for the HKSCIFund, the Mission Hills Cup Charity Gala Dinner “The Wonderful Night with Barcelona” was held at the Grand Hyatt Grand Ballroom on 9th August 2007 and the Mission Hills Cup football match was held on 11st August 2007. The Charity Gala Dinner raised over HK$940,000.

The Mission Hills Cup was one of the biggest international football match in Hong Kong, this year featuring FC Barcelona with star players such as World Footballer of The Year – Ronaldinho, World Cup stars Henry, Deco, Eto’o, Iniesta and many other household names. They played against the Mission Hills Invitation XI formed by players from Hong Kong champions Kitchee FC and Happy Valley FC at the Hong Kong Stadium on 11th August 2007.  A brochure of the match sold during the match raised over HK$20,000.

Over HK$30,000 was raised during the conference on Brain Awareness Week Hong Kong 2006, April 6-8 at the HK Int’l Trade & Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay.

The HKU-SCI Fund was chosen as a beneficiary of The Gold Club in celebrating its 7th Anniversary held on March 16, 2006 at the HK Int’l Trade & Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay.  The show raised over HK$500,000.

2004_gala_dinner.JPG1st International Spinal Cord Injury Treatments and Trials (ISCITT) Symposium Gala Dinner

This was the biggest fundraising activity in 2005.  The main theme of the Gala Dinner is to arouse public awareness on recent Spinal Cord Injury research.  The dinner was held at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. Spinal Cord Injury expertise around the world joined this memorable event and had an enjoyable evening in Hong Kong.  The dinner was successful with overwhelming responses. With participation from over 250 patrons and guests, it resulted in a total of HK$2.1millions raised.

2005_perfume_drama.jpg"Perfume" Drama Premiere

The second fundraising event – “Perfume” Drama Premiere is aimed at raising funds for the HKU-SCI Fund to support the Spinal Cord Network in Hong Kong and China to develop safe and promising therapies for spinal cord injury.

HKU-SCI Fund organized this second fundraising activity on May 5, 2005 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.  The cast of the charity drama performance included Ms. Josie Ho, Ms. Lau Nga-lai, Mr. Gregory Charles Rivers and Mr. Gary Tam.  The performance raised over HK$ 1 million for the Fund in supporting research and treatment of spinal cord injuries, as well as the operation of the ChinaSCINet.

This is the first fundraising activity of the HKU-SCI Fund. The Kung Fu Hustle Charity Film Gala was held on December 6, 2004 at the UA Pacific Place Cinema.  Renowned actor Mr. Stephen Chow, Ambassador of the HKU-SCI Fund and other members of the Fundraising Committee including Ms. Pansy Ho, Mrs. Nina Lam and Mrs. Suzanne Poon, all enjoyed the evening.  The film gala raised over HK$9 million in support of the HKU-SCI Fund.
